The student acquires knowledge and understanding of:

• the main properties, quality indicators and technologies for treatment, purification and use of working fluids in marine power plants and equipment;
• the impact of the quality of working fluids on the technical, economic and environmental performance indicators of shipboard equipment;
• the main standard and rejection quality indicators of working fluids;
• general technologies for preventing scale formation, corrosion and the formation of operational deposits in shipboard equipment;
• the main technologies for the treatment of bilge and sewage water;
• general approaches to reducing NOx and SOx emissions in the exhaust gases of marine power plants;

the application of basic approaches to monitoring the quality of working fluids, the parameters of bilge and sewage water, and emission indicators during the operation of shipboard equipment.
